Midget Girls

Dynamites vs Chili Peppers: For the Peppers, Sage Karp and Kim Buttery led the offense while Annika Brady and Katherine Rizk were strong on defense. For the Dynamites, Jordan Williams and Adelaide Meier led the offense while Emily Hartman and Olivia Brosnan led the defense

Purple People Eaters vs Yellow Jackets: For Purple, Courtney Carroll and Alex Futterman led the offense while Lucy Scarangella and Madison Findley were tough on defense. For the Yellow Jackets, Carolina Stubbs and Abby Pereira led the offense while Brianna Giglio and Alexandra Nuzzo showed heart on defense

Cheese Doodles vs Lightning: For the Doodles, Lauren Carrino and Sienna Cummings led the offense while Mia Villenueve and Rachel Tomasino were tough on defense. For the Lightning Abby Pearson and Cory Mangold led the attack while Kristen Cirone and Lauren Montague were tough on defense

Junior Mints vs Blue Storm: For the Mints, Julia Doyle and Vanessa Tucker led the offense while Jackie Matthews and Lauren Ankers were strong on defense. For the Storm, Elizabeth Weisgerber and Katie McCabe led the attack while Erin Burns and Shannon Cheh were tough on defense.

Grade 4 Girls

Blue Lightning 16, Blue Devils 6: Jesse Maturo and Nicki Zaccaro combined to score 14 points to lead Blue Lightning’s offensive attack. Ashley Lynch worked hard on the boards, pulling down 8 rebounds. Defensively the entire Blue Lightning team played hard nosed man-to-man and help defense to come away with the win. Olyvia Shaw scored 4 points for the Blue Devils off a couple of nice assists from Erin Tressler. Diana Kirkman led the Devils with 5 rebounds. Claire Swanson played solid defense in defeat.

Tigers 24, Comets 16: Lucy Helgren and Emily Dirga led the scoring. Meghan Doyle contributed a solid overall game while leading the Tigers over the Comets. Haley Conrad had 7 blocked shots and Madeliene Manfredonia played great defense. Lauren Cirone and Camdyn Moroney each had 4 points for the Comets and Tegan Doherty was solid on the defensive end of the ball.

Piranhas 10, Wildcats 4: The Piranhas picked up their first win of the season in a hard-fought game. Madeline Meier lead the team in scoring and offensive rebounds. Also sinking baskets were Kendra Dunnigan, Jillian Pieretti and Sarah Cizmazia with a long swish. Sarah also brought big defense with Brianna Capozziello. Allie Indelicato had all 4 points for the Wildcats and Kayla O’Sullivan played aggressive defense throughout the contest.

Tigers 20, Blue Lightening 18: The Tigers remained undefeated with an exciting victory over the Blue Lightening. Chloe Kasak scored 6 points and Isabelle Pryor played an overall outstanding game. Lexie Raiano and Megan Nahmias pitched in with excellent defense. Ashley Lynch and Nicole Zaccaro each had 6 points for the Blue Lightening. Bridgit Walsh had 4 assists and Natalie Shaker was a force on defense.

Blue Devils 11, Wildcats 8: Olyvia Shaw led the scoring for the Blue Devils while Maddie Cole played solid defense. Diana Kirkman controlled the boards and Simone Afriyie led the defense with three steals. Allie Indelicato scored 4 points and Tessa Leon-Gambetta was strong on the boards for the Wildcats.

Comets 24, Piranhas 14: Megan Goyda led all scores with 12 points. Camdyn Moroney also had a strong overall offense game. Lauren Cirone was a defensive force for the Comets. Madeline Meier controlled the offense for the Piranhas behind some impressive assists from Jillian Pieretti. Grace Larsen was a defensive star and Brianna Capozziello played an overall strong game.

7th Grade Girls Travel

Newtown 39, Monroe 38 (OT): Emily Maher’s 18-foot jump shot in the closing seconds of overtime sealed Newtown’s come-from-behind victory over Monroe. Trailing by 3 points with 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Newtown’s Amanda Crowell forced the overtime period by converting an offensive rebound into 3 points as she was fouled on the put back. Mary Jo Rossi led Newtown with 12 points and Amanda Crowell added 9 points and 10 rebounds. Jenny Indelicato, who shot 60 percent from the floor, and Kristie VosWinkel made key buckets in a furious fourth quarter comeback and during the overtime period.

Newtown 32, Wilton 27: Aggressive defense helped Newtown cap off a weekend of come from behind wins as they prevailed over league rival Wilton. Kerry Scallon, showing no signs of rust in her first game back from a December wrist injury, led Newtown with 11 points. Tenacious defense by Hope McMorran, Tess Murray, Emily Grimes and Kristie VosWinkel forced Wilton into several turnovers as Newtown held Wilton to only 3 points in the third quarter.

Grade 8 Girls Travel

Newtown Attack 36, Ridgefield 23: The Attack scoring was led by Bridget Power and Sam Steimle who combined for 25 points. Maddy Good, Claire Miles, Kristy Papaj and Tressa Scott combined for 17 rebounds. Meaghan Harkins and Good had 4 assists each, while Stephanie Roman and Erin Kenning led the defense with 2 steals a piece as well as forcing 5 turnovers

Senior Girls

Purple Nurples 31, Red Balls Of Fire 27: Betsy Vendel and Teri Picenno both had 9 points, Michelle Ritelli had 12 assists and Caitlin Dowing had 9 rebounds in the win. Ashley Perry had 17 points to lead the Balls Of Fire. Nicole Elias had 4 points and Katie Dessin added 3 assists.

Red Balls Of Fire 40, Yellow Banana Hammocks 30: Nicole Elias had 12 points in the win and Keta Foy scored 12 for the Banana Hammocks.

Purple Nurples 36, Blue Barracudas 23: Tory Picenno led the way with 14 points for the Nurples and Kelly Sullivan scored 8 for the Barracudas.

Blue Barracudas 21, Yellow Banana Hammocks 18: Erin Nemeth scored 6 points for the winners and Emily Kluga dropped in 6 points in defeat.

Midget Boys

Gray Bullets vs Slammers: For Gray Bullets, Ryan Escoda, Marc Carlson and Nickolas Accousti played well on offense. Christian Adam, Jimmie Davies and McKinley Seaver played great on defense. For the Slammers, Rickie Mariani, Tom Coppinger and Brandon Giglio scored on offense. Bobby Elston, Jack Bittman and Connor Legault excelled on defense.

Yellow Bananas vs Green Sharks: For the Sharks, Evan Eggleston, Cameron MacDonald, Ryan Mailloux and Ben Terry played great on offense. Henry Vaughan, Alex Wong, Harry Lucas and Shea Talbot were great on defense. For the Yellow Bananas, Nicholas Weiland, Gregory Brisette, Ayden Kasbarian and Ryan Kost were outstanding on offense. Harvey Long, Austin Smith, Andrew Buzzi and Shane Powers were strong on defense.

Blue Falcons vs Blue Knights: For the Blue Falcons, Teddy Wojcik, Brian Ingwersen and Andres Schelle were dominant on offense. On defense Brennan Mayer, Bobby Ward and James Doyle led the way. For the Blue Knights, Michael Arena, James Herron and Connor Hughes led the offense. Justin Kahn, Wyatt Moyers and Ben Nowacki were strong on defense.

Gladiators vs Blue Devils: For the Gladiators, Jack Swanson, Cole Demirgian and Jamie Davis played great on offense. Carter McCleary, Liam Deakin and Trevor Bottom played terrific defense. For the Devils, Luke Barrett, Jacob Laros, Doug Carriero, James Clifford, Brian Vander Have, Ethan Aug and Andy Greenwood played great offense. Aug, Zach Demeglio, Vincent Genovese and Adam Farley, Doug Carriero and Jacob Laros played strong defense.

White Hawks vs Ghostbusters: For the White Hawks, Kevin Riccardi, Derrick Lewis and Thomas Usher controlled the offense. Connor Dinallo, Timmy McCarthy and Nathaniel Jones were great on defense. For the Ghostbusters, Chris Daubert, Luke Melillo and Grant Moxham played great on offense. Joshua Dunn, Kyle Roche and Reed Hammond played terrific on defense.

Red Rockets vs Knicks: For the Red Rockets, Robert Murray, David Darza and Jack Dooley played well on offense. Aidan Ford, Dwyer Grimes and Gavin Connors played great on defense. For the Knicks, Jack Murray, Jared Tod and Ian Shull led the way on offense. Kyle Nicholson, Ryan Burns and Michael Annesley were strong on defense.

Gators vs Wizards: For the Gators, Shane Demers, James Schumacher and Eric Moore played very well on offense. Colin Dunn, Thomas Hartley, Jack Mulligan and Silas Decker all played well on defense. For the Wizards, Adam Bergeron, Dylan Champagne and Jake Holman led the way on offense, while Trevor Palmer, Cameron Champagne and Tommy Murray excelled on defense.

Orange Crush vs Huskies: For the Crush, AJ Salaris, CJ Trivers and Brooks Petershack scored for the offense. Eric Vigneau, Garrett Norberg and Anthony Lynch were strong on defense. For the Huskies, Andrew Deluca, Tim Davis and Matt Gerbo were good on offense, while Jacob Duffy, Christian Lestik and Matthew Dubois played great on defense.

Grade 4 Bantam Boys

Wizards 30, Gladiators 20: Thomas Cotton had 11 points for the Wizards. River Low had 3 assists, R.H. Clark had 4 steals while Austin DeSousa had 10 boards. Austin Engler had 14 points for the Gladiators while Braeden Mathieson had 3 assists. Brian Morrissey had 5 steals while Matt Bucci had 5 boards.

Flaming Monkeys 26, Orange Fire 12: Graham Dowd had 14 points for the Monkeys while Colin Villamana had 4 assists; Ben Marini was all over the ball with 4 steals and Jason Hebner had 7 rebounds. Orange Fire was led by Tom Stanczyk 4 points. Jack Lavelle had 3 assists. Matt Guinee had 3 steals and Phillip Coffee 5 boards

Men-in-Black 19, Green Rockets 18: Men-in-Black were led by Jacob Steinebrey with 11 points and Joey Accousti with 4 points. Noah Laferriere had an outstanding all-around game. Ryan Brello had 6 steals and Will Whitlock had 8 boards. The Green Rockets were led by Alex Dunleavey with 6 points. Cameron Mitchell had 4 assists, Nick Lansing had 6 steals and Matt Krasnickas had 6 rebounds.

Huskies 10, Red Devils 8: Owen McInerny had 7 points for the Huskies while Bryce Griffin had 3 assists, Matt Clark and Jordan Klein played an outstanding defensive game. The Red Devils were led on offense by Austin Kasbarian, while Will Huegi and Dylan Cotese led the way on defense and Nick Trivedi had 10 rebounds.

Grade 5 Boys Travel

Newtown 40, Bethel 14: Devin Luizetti, Matt Gerics and Jared Pearson led a balanced scoring attack as Newtown used a suffocating press to defeat a bigger Bethel team. Jamie Cochrane and Josh Houle provided the defensive pressure. Ethan Carpenter and Michael Doyle had several assists.

Newtown 46, Monroe 39: Newtown used a 17-1 run to overcome a 5 point third quarter deficit in this well-played game. Alex Gerbo and Matt Gerics led the scoring, while Matt Maturo was a rebounding force at both ends of the floor. Matt Elias and Devin Luizetti had several key steals. Newtown improved to 18-5 on the season.

Grade 5 Boys In House

Celtics 25, Wolfpack 24: Jack Procaccini scored 10 points to lead the Celtics with James Barry adding 6 assists. James Carney helped transition the defense with 6 steals and Nick Samuelson used his height advantage to pull down 6 rebounds. James Frazzetta had another solid game with 8 points to lead the Wolfpack with Sam Czel adding another 7 points. James Craig led the team with 5 assists. On defense it was James Craig with 4 steals and Mark Zavatsky with assistance on the boards.

Huskies 30, Nighthawks 27: Robert Katrinak and Mason Melillo both scored 9 points to lead the Huskies with Connor Flint adding 4 more points. James Accousti lead the team with 8 assists with Hunter Booker and Holden Turk both doing a great job on defense. For the Nighthawks it was James Buck and Max Weber each scoring 4 points to help lead their team. Austin LeBlanc lead the team with 4 assists with Maxim Donaher getting 3 turnovers on defense and Boris Kudlac ripping down 6 rebounds.

Bruins 39, Raptors 37: Christian Thanasoulis lead the Bruins with 10 points and Zachary Laros adding another 8 points. Gordon Walsh lead the team in assists with Dylan Tyrell and Andrew Svanda on defense creating turnovers and grabbing rebounds. For the Raptors it was Dillon Palumbo with 12 points to lead the offense and Thomas Gavel adding another 8 points. Spencer Johnson lead the team with assists. It was Andrew Ross and Colin Patrick with their tenacious defensive efforts that kept this game close for their team.

Giants 36, Knicks 20: Tim VanderHave lead the Giants’ offense with 14 points with Declan Sullivan adding another 12 points and Nick Rohrbacher leading the team with 7 assists. On defense Shawn McCarthy created turnovers with 5 steals and Andrew Drap grabbed 7 rebounds. Sam Duffy led the Knicks with 10 points, getting a number of assists from Nick Genovese. Kyle Keeping and Tommy Elliott worked hard on the defensive end creating turnovers and pulling down rebounds.

Wolfpack 32, Nighthawks 24: Ryan Shaw scored 14 points to lead the Wolfpack offense. Kevin Finnegan added key assists.  James Craig was the defensive star and Matt Stewart pulled down his share of rebounds to lead the team. For the Nighthawks, Michael O’Keefe led the scorers with 7 points and Max Weber played a big part with key assists. Maxim Donaher was the defensive star and Boris Kudlac grabbed the majority of rebounds for his team.

Celtics 30, Huskies 13: James Carney scored 10 points to lead the Celtics and got help from Lucas LaDestro with 4 assists.  James Barry turned in a nice performance on defense and George Salaris pulled down 5 rebounds to lead his team on the boards. Robert Katrinak scored 10 points to lead the Huskies offense with Matt Meyers adding assists. Geoff Santore was the defensive star with Hunter Booker doing a great job on the boards pulling down key rebounds.

Raptors 35, Knicks 25: Colin Patrick and Dillon Palumbo each scored 9 points to lead the Raptors’ offensive charge with Trevor Gaines adding assists. Dylan Salano was the defensive star and Matt Campbell was the team’s rebound leader. Sam Duffy turned in another good performance with 6 points to lead the Knicks’ scorers. Nick Genovese had timely assists. Brian Kiley and John DelRossi helped out on the defensive side of the ball with key turnovers and rebounds.

Bruins 30, Giants 23: Kieran Lynch and Andrew Svanda each scored 8 points to lead the Bruins. Daniel McCarthy led the team with assists with Patrick Briscoe led the defense with steals. Cole Terry added support on both ends with rebounds. Tim VanderHave scored 8 points and Adam Weber added key assists. Kevin Chernoff turned is a good performance on defense with Jackson Cryder leading the team with four rebounds.

Grade 6

Heat 28, Wolves 26: Will Swain and Colin Morrissey hit clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the Heat’s 28-26 victory over the Wolves. Colin Reilly’s 9 points led the Heat, while Swain added 7. Andrew Pfeiffer also played well. Kevin Ovendorf had 12 points and Jeremy Fellin added 8 to pace the Wolves offense. Trevor Lopez collected 7 rebounds and played outstanding defense. Jack Corbett played well on both ends of the floor, contributing 6 rebounds and adding 4 steals.

Celtics 35, Dragons 31: Leading the Celtics offense in this hard-fought and physical game was Andrew “End-to-End” Cragin who racked up 14 points and 3 assists. C.J. “Beast” Dunn loomed large on “D” with 3 blocks and 10 boards. Also playing well were Connor “The Chief” Ryan with 2 steals and 3 rebounds, Jon “The Shooter” Sherman who led the team with steals and ice packs used and Brennan “Windex” O’Sullivan who had 4 bounds and a crucial free throw in the fourth quarter. Colton Moroney and David Matthews combined for 18 points as the Dragons rebounded from a slow start. Robbie Schreiber kept up the offensive pressure adding 6 points while Sean Kemsley and Corry Philips played tough defense until the final whistle.

Junkyard Dogs 37, Heat 27: The Junkyard Dogs pulled out a victory in a seesaw battle against a tough Heat squad. Once again Nick “Lightning” Lotrecchiano led the balanced Dog offensive attack with nine points and Austin Huffman netted 8 points from the low post. Huffman and Trevor Palmer showed great interior passing skills by consistently setting up their teammates for easy baskets. Kyle McGrath used his quickness on the defensive, applying constant pressure to the Heat back court. For the Heat, Erik Street scored 8 points, to go along with 6 rebounds and a couple of blocked shots. Colin Morrissey and Sean McCafferty contributed solid games on both ends of the floor.

Semi Pros 33, Gators 27: James Burdette and Harry DePuy combined for 18 points to spearhead the Semi-Pros offensive effort. Mark Dowling, Conrad Morris, Tommy Shakerand Eric Gibbons also all scored key buckets. On the defensive side, Harry DePuy and Eric Gibbons dominated the boards combining for 16 rebounds and James Burdette had 2 blocks and 5 steals. For the Gators, Jason Ferrari led all scorers with 10. While Bryce Decker scored 7 and pulled down 9 rebounds. Robbie McCabe and Adam Israel both scored 4. Dan Hamula and Mithchell Godin played well on defense.

Celtics 32, Wolves 26: In a nail biter, the Celtic’s defense was led by Ryan “The Thief” Whitton and Liam “Diesel” Decker. The Thief continued to anticipate passes and added 3 more swipes this game, while Diesel used his size to slow down the opponent. Strong games were had by both John “The Wall” Narducci (2 boards, 1 steal, 2 assists) and Connor “The Chief” Ryan (2 boards, 2 steals, 4 points) to lead the Celtic’s to victory. For the Wolves, Kevin Ovendorf had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Jeremy Fellin added 6 points to go along with 5 steals. Brandon O’Sullivan played a great overall game, scoring 4 points, grabbing 5 rebounds and adding 3 steals. Tyler Lenox also had an outstanding game, contributing several rebounds and key steals to help the Wolves in a close game.

Screaming Eagles 34, Dunkeys 32: Will Dalton and Jaret DeVellis combined for 20 points and led the fourth quarter defense for the Screaming Eagles in this hard-fought battle with the Dunkeys. Chris “The Animal” Hartley, Connor “The Beast” LeMay and Andy “The Wolfman” DeWolfe lived up to their nicknames and controlled the glass. Christian Hoffman was everywhere, running down loose balls and nailing jumpers. A shorthanded Dunkeys team battled hard until the end. Stephen Grasso had 10 points, Wiley Zahansky added 9, while Peter Manfredonia chipped in 8 points. Carl Whippie controlled the boards and added 2 points.

Nets 34, Dragons 32: The Nets held on to win their second game in a row with great hustle from the entire team. Bobby Archiere led the scoring with 12 points, dropping three buckets off fast break steals. Steven Tramontozzi pulled down several key rebounds and Scott Gregson covered the entire court on defense. The backcourt pair of Keaton McCleary and Nate Dowd had 7 points, 6 assists and several steals apiece. The dragons fought a tough battle Saturday as Bobby Lydon and David Matthews combined for 24 points. David Csordas and Sean Kemsley played tough defense while Deegan Beauchemin controlled the offense for a good portion of the game. Sawyer Conrad played tough on both ends of the court and Tommy Rahr came up big under the boards for the undermanned Dragons.

Jr Boys

Knicks 54, Celtics 37: For the Knicks Patric Riccardi was the high scorer with 16 points, along with Robbie Hughes, who had 15 points. Cameron Eiseman, Shay DeMarche and Grant Larnerd had strong games. For the Celtics Christian Barrett was the high scorer with 10 points along with Troy Larsen who had 8 points. Collin Hull was the assist leader, Danny Cummings was the defensive star and Andrew Ryan was the rebound leader.

Wildcats 58, Trashtalkers 51: For the Wildcats Andrew Martinez was the high scorer with 13 points along with Justin Cherry who had 10 points. Patrick Rowley added 8 points. Mitchell Girgasty had 6 rebounds. For the Trashtalkers, Jamie MacDonald was the high scorer with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Brandon Marks had 8 assists. Jonathan Schwartz had 8 points and played good defense.

Nighthawks 43, Running Rebels 37: For Nighthawks Mike Scharfenberg was the high scorer with 26 points. Matt Wood had 3 assists, Dan Win had 2 steals and Nick Norberg had 10 rebounds. Matt Wood had 6 points and Brock Chimileski added 5. Miles LoBuglio sunk a last-second foul shot to seal the game. For the Running Rebels Riley Cross was the high scorer with 11 points along with Christian Mather who had 10 points. Dominic Scarangella had 2 assists, Drew Sullivan had 4 steals and 6 rebounds.

Bricklayers 40, Bullets 32: For the Bricklayers Jack Champagne was the high scorer with 12 points. Andrew Derrickson had 5 assists and Charlie Helgren had 10 steals. For the Bullets, Chris Devaney was the high scorer with 11 points along with Kevin Shpunt who had 8 points. Chris Caroll and Tyler Gibney had 7 assists, Devin Dinicola had 4 steals.

Huskies 54, The Team 47: For the Huskies Pat Mullins was the high scorer with 23 points. Grant Ricketts was the assist leader, Jack Lago was the defensive star and Jeff Peterson was the rebound leader. Dean Deamers poured in 17 points. Mike Davenport played excellent defense with 2 steals. For The Team Joe Chris Erickson had 5 assists and Jack Kearney had 5 steals. Joe Davis had his best game of the year with 17 points. Jack Kearney, Chris Erickson and Tom Gleason all played well.

Tarheels 46, Warriors 38: For the Tarheels Jake Feinstein led the scoring with 13 points. Alex Romeo had 5 assists, Steve Rahr had 3 steals and Ben Payne had 5 rebounds. For the Warriors Eric Fiore was the high scorer with 14 points. Chris Otero had 4 assists, Ryan Pisani had 4 steals and Patrick Pierce had 7 rebounds

Gators 45, Heat 42: For the Gators Steve Conway was the high scorer with 12 points. Wes Morlock had 3 assists, Alec Beacheman had 2 steals and Pat Thornberg had 8 rebounds. Noah Sock had a clutch foul shot to cement the win. For the Heat, Justin Devellis was the high scorer with 21 points. Ruhit Ahsam had 3 assists, Kyle Gordon had 2 steals and Nick Madden had 7 rebounds. Spencer Brindley scored 5 points and had 3 assists. Ryan Rosenberger kit a key 3 pointer.

Nets 44, Grizzlies 30: For the Nets Angel Santos was the high scorer with 10 points. Nicky Sajovic and Richard Greenwood each had 9 points. Richard Greenwood also had 2 assists, David Cartisano had 3 steals and Brenden Peterson had 7 rebounds. Marcellino Hernandez, Sam Bolan and Joe Calibo had strong defensive effort. For the Grizzlies, JP Kitzmiller had 13 points. Ty Runkle had 4 assists, Matt Janco had 3 steals and Hunter Low had 6 rebounds. Also Tommy Catalina also had 10 points.
