Chairman Of TBICO

DANBURY — William H. Webb, Jr, of Newtown has been appointed chairman of the board of The Bridge to Independence & Career Opportunities, according to TBICO President and CEO LouAnn Bloomer.

TBICO provides low-income individuals with a comprehensive range of employment-related training, services, and financial literacy education to enable them to find quality jobs and become self-sufficient.

Based in Danbury, TBICO’s goal is to break the cycle of generational poverty by helping people develop the skills they need to compete in a knowledge-based economy. Then, once they have entered the workforce, TBICO provides them with the support they need to facilitate job retention and career advancement. Working on personal and career growth at the same time, TBICO is able to make a lifelong impact on the individual.

William H. Webb, Jr, is president of Pegasys, Inc, a Newtown business and management consulting firm that also offers cardiac defibrillators (AEDs) to businesses, municipalities and individuals through a website at cardiolifeline.com and a nationwide network of representatives.

“Bill’s concise management style and hands-on approach to problem solving made him an excellent choice to chair our board,” said Ms Bloomer. “He is a hard worker and very involved in the community. He has already begun restructuring board operations, committees, and tasks to board members. I see great things coming to TBICO under Bill’s chairmanship.”

In a statement from his Newtown office, Mr Webb said, “TBICO is a wonderful organization that is making a significant difference in people’s lives and the lives of their families. Over the years I have spoken to and heard from many TBICO graduates about how TBICO has changed their lives. It’s moving to hear their comments. I’m honored to be serving as TBICO’s chairman.”

During TBICO’s 12-year history, the organization has helped more than 700 area families and 98 percent of its graduates are no longer on welfare.

Ms Bloomer pointed out that 92 cents of every dollar raised through charitable giving goes directly to student services.

“With only eight cents of each dollar going to administrative services, TBICO is extremely efficient,” said Mr Webb. “We pride ourselves on the pass-through to student services and it gives contributing businesses and philanthropists comfort knowing that most of their contribution goes directly to the heart of the need.”
