SHERMAN — The Sherman Players are performing The Graduate as their spring production.

Directed by Susan Abrams, performances began in mid-April and continue for two additional weekends, through May 11.

The first play adaptation of the classic novel and cult film from the 1960s, the plot is as follows: Benjamin has excellent grades, very proud parents, and since he helped Mrs Robinson with her zipper, a fine future behind him.

Now Benjamin’s disastrous sexual odyssey is brought vividly to life in this world stage production, of which The New York Times said the “bittersweet comedy is rich, full, and funny.”

The Sherman cast includes Thomas Ovitt as Benjamin Braddock, Kit Colbourn as Mrs Robinson, Erin Shaughnessy as Elaine Robinson, Benjamin’s fiancée; Robin Frome as Mr Braddock/Dad; Stacy-Lee Frome as Mrs Braddock/Mom, Chris Marker as Mr Robinson; Agnes Fohn as the stripper; and Jeff Rossman as Bartender, Hotel Clerk, Psychiatrist and Priest.

The producer is Robin Frome, lights are coordinated by Al Chiappetta, set and costume design was done by Susan Abrams, and stage management is under Steven Stott.

Remaining performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday evenings at 8, and Sunday, May 5, at 2 pm.

Tickets are $24 adults, $12 for students, and they are available through [naviga:u]shermanplayers.org[/naviga:u]. The theater, at 5 Route 39 North in Sherman, can be reached for additional information at 860-354-3622.
