‘Tis The Season For Holiday Music

DANBURY — The Danbury Music Centre will sponsor The Danbury Community Orchestra in a program of seasonal selections on Sunday, December 5, at 3 pm, at Ives Concert Hall.

The orchestra is under the direction of Richard Brooks, music director and conductor. The program, entitled “’Tis  the Season,” will feature music of Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev and Vaughn Williams along with Vivaldi’s Winter Concerto from The Four Seasons. Guest artist Eric Lewis will be the violin soloist.

Concluding the program will be Leroy Anderson’s popular “Sleigh Ride,” which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year.

Now in its 42nd season, the all-volunteer Danbury Community Orchestra consists of over 75 musicians of all ages from the greater Danbury region. DCO presents two orchestral concerts annually, along with two recitals of chamber music.

Among the musicians from Newtown and Sandy Hook are: Rebecca Carleton, Drew Carleton, Warren Condit, Robert Harris, Paul R. Heetmann, Peter Jordan, Ben Kugielsky, Davina LaRondelle, Rebecca Mitchell, Kate Morrissey, Christina Palmer, James Palmer, Millie Paltauf, Joel Romanelli, Jay Romanelli, and Rachel Romanelli.

Admission to the concert is free. Ives Concert Hall is at 181 White Street, on the midtown campus of Western CT State University. Contact Danbury Music Centre, 748-1716, for additional information.
