SOUTHINGTON — The Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants will sponsor its 46th annual Federal Tax Forum on Monday and Tuesday, December 6 and 7, at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington, from 8:25 am to 5 pm.

The CSCPA Federal Tax Forum is designed to keep firms, individual practitioners, and CPAs in the profession abreast of new developments in federal taxation. The forum provides practitioners with the opportunity to learn about new legislation, and to review standard tax issues. This year, John M. Surgent and Susan Smith of Surgent & Associates will update attendees on individual, business, and corporate taxes. Mr Surgent will address financial planning for retirement; Ms Smith will offer advice on tax planning for college.

Monday’s luncheon speaker, Francis J. Romano, Taxpayer Advocate for the Connecticut-Rhode Island District of the Internal Revenue Service, will speak about the changing role of the taxpayer advocate in today’s IRS. Tuesday’s luncheon speaker, Michael Schulde of Quality Leadership Network specializes in performance improvement, and will lead a discussion entitled “Does Corporate Culture Lead or Trail Human Evolution?” Other workshops include “Tax Planning with Stock Options,” “Corporate Liquidations – Converting From C Corporation to LLC,” and “Family Dynamics of Business,” and more. For more information, call the CSCPA Continuing Professional Education Department at 860/280-1100, extension 229, or visit the CSCPA Web site at www.cs-cpa.org.
