Spaghetti Suppers
Beginning In Woodbury
WOODBURY â Woodbury United Methodist Church is beginning to utilize its recently expanded facilities. Reverend Sanford commented that âthe thoughts for a dinner as a community outreach have been discussed in the past, but the facility could not accommodate the food preparation.â
As part of a recent renovation, the church doubled the size of its kitchen, has met all town requirements, and through the generosity of members who donated professional cooking equipment, is now outfitted with a professional kitchen.
A kick-off spaghetti and meatballs spectacular was held in September for church members as a dry run, and more than 160 meals were served. The goal is to serve 300 patrons monthly, with proceeds going to various church projects.
Most important, Reverend Sanford stated, is the congregational fellowship with the community. âWe hope to attract people from the community, provide a good meal and to have people experience the warmth and caring of our fellowship,â he explained.
Starting Saturday, October 28, the suppers will be run monthly and will be open to the public. Visitors will be able to enjoy a filling and delicious meal from 5 to 7:30 pm. The cost is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, $3.50 for children under 12.
Prices include the entrée (with a meat marinara, spicy meat marinara and vegetarian with mushroom sauces available, all made on the premises), salad, Italian bread (garlic or buttered), beverage, dessert and coffee. Meatballs are available at an additional cost of 50 cents each.
Tickets are sold at the door the night of the dinner. Woodbury United Methodist Church is at 3 Church Street. Call 265-0154 for additional information.
