FFH Management Panel Needs Broader Membership

To the Editor:

The appointment of members to the Ad Hoc Fairfield Hills Management Committee is a major step in the forthcoming development of the Fairfield Hills property.  In accepting the chairmanship, Dr Reed indicated he was happy to serve as chair based on the people appointed to the committee.  And well he might be, as the members have been very involved in making Newtown the community it is today.

For the past six years, the Friends of Fairfield Hills have been working to educate and to involve as many citizens of Newtown as possible in the development of Fairfield Hills.  Its members have become very knowledgeable of the wishes of many members of our community.  Therefore, the appointment of a representative from the Friends of Newtown to the management committee would make the committee even more inclusive of the ideas of the people of Newtown. Perhaps Mrs Ruby Johnson would be willing to serve on the Ad Hoc Fairfield Hills Management Committee.  As the by-laws of the committee are currently being written, room for such representation needs to be considered.

(Editor’s note: One of the eight members of the recently appointed Fairfield Hills Management Committee, Andrew Willie, is a member of the Friends of Fairfield Hills.)
