William R. Tyrrell
William R. âBillâ Tyrrell of Williamsburg, Va., died May 9 in Richmond, Va.
He was born June 4, 1928, in Bristol, England. In 1967, Mr Tyrrell brought his family to Brookfield. He resided in Brookfield and Newtown for 29 years, before retiring to Williamsburg in 1996.
Mr Tyrrell received his early education in Bristol and Oxford, England, and served with the Royal Air Force in Germany and Iraq.
He worked for the Bristol Aeroplane Company until joining Dawe Instruments, London, England. He subsequently joined Branson Ultrasonic Corporation in Danbury, as a product and sales manager, retiring in 1993 after 26 years of service.
He was a volunteer for Colonial Williamsburg, and active in the Fordâs Colony community.
Mr Tyrrell was unfailingly loving and warm, full of life and good humor. His spirit will be sorely missed.
Mr Tyrrell is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Betty M. Tyrrell of Williamsburg; his daughter, Sally T. Modjeska and husband, Gary, and their children Hilary, Ross and Tyler, all of Bethesda, Md.; his daughter, Elizabeth M. âLizâ Breeckner and husband, Gregory, and their children Ashley and Andrew, all of Hilton Head, S.C.; and his brother, John M. Tyrrell of Bristol, England.
A memorial service will be held on May 21 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
