To the Editor:

I have certain expectations of the person representing Newtown at the state level. I would expect careful attention be paid to the financial health of our state. When I review the bills our incumbent state representative has “sponsored” and voted in favor of, I see no evidence of fiscal restraint. Time and time again, he has voted to expand government programs. In the last two years, under the watch of our incumbent representative, the Connecticut economy has grown 1.3 percent while our debt has grown 31.6 percent. It is irresponsible to continue down this current path.

Fiscal responsibility is just one of the reasons why I will be supporting George Ferguson for Newtown’s state representative for the 106th District. George will safeguard our financial future. George will not mortgage our future to pay for today’s operating costs. George has the fortitude to say “Stop Spending!” and to review our current government infrastructure for inefficiencies and duplication of effort.

 Please join me in voting for George Ferguson for the 106th District on November 2.
