Is Good For All

To the Editor:

Full-day kindergarten is long past due in Newtown. The educational benefits are well documented, and most parents here are anxious to have it, as judged by the results of last year’s superintendent survey.

One plea to the Board of Education and administration: Please dash any thought of phasing this program in by school. Do you not see the obvious inequity and schism you would create? “Sorry, you live in the wrong neighborhood, maybe it will be your turn next year, assuming we can find the space and money.”

If the program is good for one student, then it is good for all. Please find a way.
