Tobacco Prevention Summit For Youth
Tobacco Prevention Summit For Youth
COLEBROOK â For years Big Tobacco has manipulated Americaâs youth by hooking millions of teenagers on its tobacco products. This one-sided, highly targeted attack on the health and minds of teenagers hasnât been sufficiently challenged⦠until now!
This April 27 to 29, young people from around the state will be attending âTobacco: The Real Deal Youth Summit,â a revolutionary event, to address the manipulative tactics of Big Tobacco. These youths will be given the knowledge and skills necessary to counteract the tobacco industryâs harmful practices in their hometowns. Additionally, the Summit schedule will also include time for recreational activities such as a dance and team building activities.
The Summit for youth, ages 13-17 (grades 8-11), will be held on April 27, at 6 pm, through April 29 at Camp Jewell YMCA in Colebrook. Space is still available for both youth and adult partners. There is no cost for participants to attend the summit and transportation is provided to and from four locations throughout the state. The Summit is sponsored by the Connecticut Department of Public Health and the Connecticut Area Health Education Centers (AHEC). Registration forms for both youth participants and adult partners can be obtained by calling Michelle Ferreira at 860-679-7969 or at Ferreira@adp.rchc.edu.
