String Quartet Will Continue

Music At Trinity Series

The Enao Ensemble will perform at Trinity Episcopal Church, at the corner of Main Street and Church Hill Road, on Friday, July 23, at 7:30 pm. A reception will follow the performance.

The program for the string quartet will include selections by Brahms, Mendelssohn and Shostakovich. This concert is part of the ongoing Music at Trinity program of free concerts. Donations will go to support The Bishop’s Fund for Children.

The Enao Ensemble played its first concert series to benefit the Bishop’s Fund for Children in the summer of 2000. Over the past four summers they have raised over $7,700 for the Bishop’s Fund.

The founding members – violinist Jennifer Hsiao, Paul Hsiao and cellist Benjamin Larsen – were all teens who studied at Hartt School Community Division and were looking for opportunities to play chamber music together. Today Ms Hsiao and Mr Larsen continue to perform with the ensemble, along with newer members Emily Madsen on violin and Rachel Lefebvre on viola.

The quartet has found willing hosts and venues at a few Episcopal churches, and it seemed that a freewill offering to benefit an Episcopal children’s charity was a good way to show their appreciation for the gifts they had been given.

Members have appeared as soloists for the Hartford and Farmington Valley symphonies, and all four of these young musicians have won prestigious awards for their musical artistry.

Plenty of free parking is available at the church, and the building is handicapped accessible. Access is easiest through the driveway on Church Hill Road. For additional information contact the church office at 426-9070.
