Interfaith Network Caregiving Conference

MADISON — “The Wellness of Aging” will be this year’s theme for the Connecticut Interfaith Network on Aging’s 21st Annual Caregiving Conference. The event will take place at The Mercy Center, 167 Neck Road, from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm.

The statewide planning committee includes Jeane Roberts, Newtown; the Rev Barbara Barlok, Cheshire; Yvonne Bachand, Trumbull; Lucy Hutchinson, North Haven; Joan Linley, New Haven; Linda Manganaro, Newtown; Karen Messina, Danbury; Judy Sugarman, Orange; Jane Turner, New Haven; and Ceia Webb, New Milford.

Conference Speakers are the Rev Barbara Barlok, chairperson of Connecticut Interfaith Network on Aging, an ordained minister of the United Church of Christ, and director of Interfaith Volunteer Care Givers of Greater New Haven; Dr Louise Loomis, founding director of the New England Cognitive Center, assistant professor of philosophy, University of Hartford, and humanities instructor, Goodwin College; and Dr Jack Paul Gesino, associate professor of social work, Southern Connecticut State College and clinical coordinator of mental health services at Trilogy Psychiatric Services, an affiliate of Masonicare, Wallingford.

The closing prayer will be given by Leonette Warburton Wishard, a retired missionary who will be celebrating her 103rd birthday in October.

The conference workshops will provide opportunities for education, spiritual reflection, respite, and support.

All denominations, religions, or spiritual traditions are welcome to attend the conference. The $40 registration fee includes continental breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea.
