Bell Ringers Needed To Stand With Salvation Army Kettles
The Newtown Service Unit of the Salvation Army has openings for bell ringers this holiday season.
One hour time slots have been scheduled for Fridays, December 11 and 18, from 4 to 8 pm, at Yankee Discount Wine & Liquor in Queen Street Shopping Center, and Stop & Shop, 228 Main Street South. Recently opened Ace Hardware, on Church Hill Road, has also agreed to welcome bell ringers outside its store, and will welcome them for the first time on December 11 as well.
On Saturdays, December 12 and 19, bell ringers will be positioned outside Dunkinâ Donuts on Queen Street from 9 am until noon.
The kettle will then move across the street to Ace Hardware for the afternoons of December 12 and 19, from noon until 4 pm.
Lexington Gardens, 36 Church Hill Road, will have Salvation Army volunteers outside its door on Saturdays, December 12 and 19, from 9 am until 4 pm, and Stop & Stop will have ringers on those days from 9 am to 5 pm.
Money collected in the Salvation Army kettles at those locations is spent solely on Newtown residents who are in need of help. Food, dental and doctor bills, fuel, and clothing are just some of the way this money is used.
Give Marie Sturdevant a call at 203-740-2733 or Sylvia Poulin, her co-chair of this project, at 203-426-6803, to find out about openings. Singles, couples, families, and groups are all welcome.
