Newtownâs Middle/Intermediate school cross country teams had a great day on October 14. Both the boysâ and girlsâ teams won the meet hosted by Bethel.
Led by the third-place finish of eighth grader Sean Kemsley the boysâ team finished with 36 points to Bethels 61, Jockey Hollowâs 74, Memorialâs 82, and Scotts Ridgeâs 117. East Ridge, with only five runners, did not finish.
The Newtown boys improved to 9-2 this season. Other top Newtown finishers: 6. Tyler Dulliger, 7. Joey Whelan, 9. Will Roman, 11. Vanya Donaher, 18. Jacob Steinebrey, 25. Peter Fagerholm, 31. Daniel Hamula, 32. Josh Bent, and 35. Ethan Burg.
The girlsâ team, led by the trio of Molly Begg, Eliza Eggelston, and Laura Hornby, who finished sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively, scored 49 points Bethelâs 62, Memorialâs 64, Scotts Ridgeâs 80, Jockey Hollowâs 202, and East Ridgeâs 233.
