Boys' Lacrosse Team Falls To Rebels, Defeats Lancers
In a battle of unbeaten South-West Conference boys' lacrosse foes, Newtown High School fell 17-5 to visiting New Fairfield, on May 4. The Nighthawks fell to 7-5 overall and 6-1 in conference play, and the Rebels improved to 11-1 and 8-0.
Jeffrey Garrity scored three times, and Aiden Coleman and Tucker Garrity each had one goal for the Nighthawks.
Newtown rebounded with a 19-1 win at Notre Dame-Fairfield three days later. Tucker Garrity had four goals and four assists, Jeffrey Garrity logged six assists, and Coleman registered five goals and a trio of helpers.
Brennan Mayer had two goals and an assist, and Brett Pierce, Brendan Manka, and Matt Jacobs each had two goals. Kyle Sullivan had a goal and an assist, Colin Breslin scored once, and Andre Sokk added an assist.
Newtown, after hosting Bethel on Thursday at 7 pm, is home to Bronxville of New York, also at Blue & Gold Stadium, Saturday, May 11, beginning at 1:30 pm. The regular slate ends with a May 13 visit to Brookfield at 6 pm.
