Alliance Insurance Celebrates
A Year In Business
By Jeff White
Competitive rates and local service make up the foundation on which the licensed sales agents at Alliance Insurance Agency have built their company at 25 Churchill Rd, where they are celebrating one year in business.
President Megan Oberg and sales agents Michael Cherney and Rosemary Blasko understand the important of reaching out to customers. âA lot of people in insurance will just sit back and wait for phone calls â we donât do that,â says Ms Blasko. âIâm on the phones from the time I [arrive] in the morning until night; [I put in] a 10 to 12 hour day.â
Although Alliance is still relatively new in town, the last year has afforded the agency the opportunity to build solid relationships with a growing list of companies from Progressive, Kemper and The Hartford to the Travelers and National Grange.
Alliance specializes in auto and home insurance, business insurance, and life and health insurance. The licensed sales agents at Alliance have experience working in what they refer to as âgray areaâ situations, when people have difficulty obtaining insurance through normal channels. Alliance can underwrite all risks.
Being a member of the Newtown Chamber of Commerce, the company is able to advertise and solicit business in and beyond Newtown. According to Megan Obergâs husband, Randy, Alliance utilizes telemarketing and aggressive advertising in the yellow pages to get their name out. Mr Oberg, who runs the Queen Street branch of Allstate, has experience in the insurance business and has been able to help his wife with his expertise.
Alliance Insurance has normal business hours between 9 am and 6 pm, Monday through Friday, with Saturday hours available by appointment.
Although Alliance workers admit that business has gotten better with the recent departure of several agencies in Newtown, they have been getting a lot of support from the town since they opened their doors a year ago. âWe have been very warmly received by the community. Theyâve responded well,â says Ms Blasko. Â
The future looks good for Alliance, says Ms Blasko, who explains that the agency in the coming months hopes to expand into more companies and acquire more companies and services to aid in their business.
Alliance agents want to emphasize that anyone can e-mail them with specific questions about coverage and services at allianceins@aol.com or call them at 364-1110.
â[They] plan to be here for a long time,â comments Mr Oberg.
