Free Workshop For Parents
DANBURY â The Family University, a Bethel community tradition for the past three years, invites parents of children ages five to 18 to âPositive Parenting: Building Character in Your Child and Strengthening Your Familyâ on Sunday, February 6, from 3 to 5 pm at the Walnut Hill Community Church, 156 Walnut Hill Road, Bethel.
This free program gives parents the opportunity to learn new skills, improve the quality of their family life and meet other parents in the community. Parents may choose one of the three workshops below and couples with multiple age children may attend separate workshops:
âPositive Parenting for Young Elementary Age Childrenâ (age 5-10 years). Presenter â Leslie Cohen-Ruberry, LCSW, parent educator and clinical social worker in private practice, Redding.
âMaintaining Love and Setting Limitsâ The Middle School Years â (age 11-13 years). Presenter â Liz Driscoll Jorgensen, CDAC, Coordinator of Adolescent Substance Abuse Services, Danbury Hospital Center for Children and Adolescent Treatment Services.
âParenting Your Child Through High School and Towards Young Adulthoodâ â (age 14-18 years). Presenter â Rob Strong, MA, Youth Pastor, the Walnut Hill Community Church.
The program is sponsored by Danbury Hospital, Bethel Community Care Coalition, Inc, the First Congregational Church of Bethel, the Walnut Hill Community Church, St Maryâs Church, the United Methodist Church of Bethel, and St Thomas Episcopal Church.
