Togs For The Tercentennial

By Jan Howard

T-shirts and caps commemorating Newtown’s 300th anniversary in 2005 will be available for purchase the week of June 21 at the Parks and Recreation office at Town Hall South, the Newtown Savings Bank offices on Main Street and in Sand Hill Plaza, and The Newtown Bee.

The following week they will also be available at the C.H. Booth Library, which will be closed the week of June 21.

“We should have all logistics in place by the week of June 21,” Richard Woycik, chairman of the committee for commemoratives, said last week.

The T-shirts and caps will also be available for purchase during public events over the next 18 months, he said.

Mr Woycik said T-shirts are available in short and long sleeves, in gray or white, in five adult sizes and three youth sizes. There are also adult caps in a stone color and youth caps in khaki.

Adult short-sleeved shirts are $17; youth shirts are $15. Adult long-sleeved shirts are $23; youth shirts are $20. Hats are priced at $17 for adults and $15 for youth.

Mr Woycik said a number of other items are under consideration for sale in the future. “As they become available, we will make the public aware,” he said.

All proceeds of commemorative items directly benefit the Tercentennial Commission to contribute to other celebratory activities.
