Newtown Softball Tag Sale
The Newtown High School varsity softball team might be donning their winter apparel, but they are preparing for the 2008 season by holding a benefit tag sale on Saturday, November 10, from 9 am to 3 pm, at the Newtown Middle School. There will be furniture, household items, toys, games, bicycles, skates and more â not to forget crafts and a bake sale.

Run For A Cure
The seventh annual Run For A Cure 3-miler will be held on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22, at 9:30 am. The race will be held to raise money for the New Milford New York-Presbyterian Hospital Cancer Center and the Relay For Life of the American Cancer Society. There will be a $10 entry fee that can be paid that day between 7:30 and 9:15 am at the Roxbury Congregational Church on Route 317. Danbury Dream Team Hoops v Puerto Rican Pride
The Danbury Dream Team has challenged the internationally acclaimed Puerto Rican Pride hoopsters to a showdown at the Pal Athletic Center on Saturday, December 8, at 6 pm. A portion of the ticket sales will benefit Family and Childrenâs Aid, a Danbury based non-profit agency that assists the areaâs abused and disenfranchised. The voice of street basketball, Boobie Smooth, will emcee game and festivities. Coached by Ray Rivera, the Puerto Rican Pride team has been playing together for two years in the top summer pro leagues in New York as well as the annual PR Pride v Dominican Power game and the prestigious Rikers Island game. The Danbury Dream Team challengers are coached by George Anderson, former Abbott Tech point guard. The illustrious hometown squad includes E.J. Harris, member of UConnâs 1999 menâs championship team, Trevon Little and John Weir of Keane State, Casey Bock, DeWayne Dickens and Rudy McCarley of WSCU and crowd-favorite Quaney Hesser, who played with Danbury High. F.A.S.T. Youth Soccer Open House
Sport & Wellness at Danbury (formerly Beaver Brook Tennis Club), has announced the launch of F.A.S.T. youth soccer clinics, beginning the week of November 19th at the prominent Fairfield County tennis and sports facility. F.A.S.T., an acronym for âfitness-agility-speed-trainingâ is geared toward youth soccer players of all ages and abilities to further develop their sport-specific fitness and skill levels during the winter off season. A F.A.S.T. Youth Soccer Open House Clinic will be held Sunday, November 11, from 3 to 5 pm, and midfielder Joe Vide of the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer will on hand, in uniform, to sign autographs and pose for photos. The public event is free and open to all youth soccer players and their families. Local youth soccer clubs throughout Fairfield and Litchfield Counties whose programs include beginner or intramural or travel team play are greatly encouraged to participate. Open House festivities kick-off with continuous, non-stop mini-demonstration clinics where all soccer players, grouped by various age and ability levels, will take part in an exclusive live sneak preview of the F.A.S.T multi-sports fitness and training program. Conducted by Sport & Wellness certified instructors and coaches on acrylic-cushioned indoor courts, all youth players are requested to wear sneakers and athletic attire. A New York Red Bulls pro experience, official team merchandise and a 2008 Opening Day family ticket package to Giants Stadium will be given away as Open House clinic prizes.
