Three Hundred

Coats

To the Editor:

I’m sending a huge thank you to the townspeople and Superior Cleaners of 103 South Main Street, Colonial Park Plaza, Newtown, for their very generous support of our very successful Used Coat Drive held recently. Three hundred coats were collected, cleaned, and distributed to various agencies: Newtown Social Services; in Danbury, Women’s Center of Western Connecticut, The Association of Religious Communities (serving a male homeless shelter), Family and Children’s Aid, Hispanic Center, New Heights Mental Health Day Program, and Harmony Houses #4 and #5 (a children’s group home and a women’s and children’s shelter).

Receiving such heartfelt thanks from the directors of these agencies demonstrated the huge need in our communities. To all those who participated in some way for this coat drive (including the churches, medical offices, banks, and retail establishments who helped distribute the flyers) I extend my grateful appreciation as well.
