Free Alzheimerâs Training Program For Caregivers
SOUTHBURY â A free four-part Alzheimerâs Association Training Program for Caregivers is being offered in Southbury at the Jewish Federation, 444 Main Street North. The program is for people caring for loved ones with Alzheimerâs disease and related dementias and takes place on four Thursdays, August 2, 9, 16, and 23, from 2 to 3:30 pm.
Light refreshments will be served.
This initial training on August 2 features Daniel Wollman, MD, PhD, medical director of the Lutheran Home of Southbury, and an executive board member for the Alzheimerâs Association Connecticut Chapter. Dr Wollman will present an overview of Alzheimerâs disease and current research.Â
The three subsequent trainings include communication and behavior techniques with Heather Hitchcock, Northwestern regional director of the Alzheimerâs Association;Â community resources and family dynamics with Patrice Hallum, MA, CT Community Care, Inc; and legal and financial issues with an elder law attorney.
