Police Plan Sobriety Checkpoint
For April 29-30
During the nighttime hours of Saturday April 29, and early morning hours of Sunday April 30, town police plan to hold a sobriety checkpoint on an unspecified local road.
Ten police officers and one supervisor will staff the checkpoint, police said
Each vehicle traveling through the checkpoint will be briefly stopped. Â Drivers will be interviewed to determine if they are operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Drivers found to be under the influence will be arrested and transported to the police station for arrest processing.
This is the first sobriety checkpoint of the year. Â Four more similar sobriety checkpoints are slated for the summer months, according to police Sergeant Christopher Vanghele.
