âThe Travelers Championship is pleased to deliver such strong action for the course this summer,â said Nathan Grube, tournament director. âTo have more than 30 players who have won a tournament in the past two years means that the competition at our event will be intense. With the talent in our player field, golf fans certainly have a great week of golf action to look forward to here in Connecticut.â
For the popular Pro-Am on Wednesday, June 20, University of Connecticut coaches Jim Calhoun (menâs basketball), Geno Auriemma (womenâs basketball) and Randy Edsall (football) will be swinging the sticks.
Both Calhoun (2005) and Auriemma (2006) were recently inducted into the Naismith Memorial and Womenâs Basketball Halls of Fame, respectively. Edsall led the Huskies to a victory at the Motor City Bowl in 2004, the first bowl appearance ever by a UConn football team.
