Garner Inmate Arrested On Assault Charge
State police report that on the morning of November 4, Garner Correctional Institution inmate Jaime Ramirez, 31, spat on a correction officer at the high-security prison on Nunnawauk Road.
State police said that Ramirez resisted being handcuffed and also refused to be fingerprinted.
During the incident, a correction officer received a minor hand injury, state police said.
State police charged Ramirez with assault on a public safety officer, interfering with an officer, and failure to submit to fingerprinting.
Ramirez was scheduled to appear November 5 in Danbury Superior Court to be arraigned on the charges.
Ramirez was serving a one-year sentence in Garner on a conviction for possession or sale of a dangerous weapon.
