RODIN ON VIEW AT BALTIMORE MUSEUM

AVV 8-6 #708340

BALTIMORE, MD. — The Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) presents the exhibition, “Rodin: Expression & Influence,” on view through April 6.

The Modern Masters Series at the BMA continues with this one-gallery exhibition exploring the sculptural legacy of Auguste Rodin through nearly 30 works by the artist and his contemporaries.

Considered the most popular sculptor of the early Twentieth Century, Rodin inspired a generation of artists from Edgar Degas to Henri Matisse. Featuring both sculpture by Rodin and artists such as Edgar Degas, Auguste Renoir, and Pablo Picasso — as well as a selection of works on paper — this exhibition highlights Rodin’s expressive variations, while tracing the ways in which his artistic process charted new territory and both inspired and provoked reaction from his contemporaries.

The exhibition is curated by Dr Oliver Shell, assistant curator of European painting and sculpture.

The Baltimore Museum of Art is at 10 Art Museum Drive. For information, 443-573-1700 or www.artbma.org.
