What A Mess!
Light rain and 30-ish degree weather greeted residents Wednesday morning after getting sleddersâ hopes up with a late afternoon snowfall the previous day. Snow accumulated beginning Tuesday evening and into the night with a light, powdery touch, but bright red plastic sleds or old-fashioned toboggans propped by the front door were dripping Wednesday morning as rain turned the white inches of dusting to slush.
Emergency crews trudged throughout town responding to calls for wires or limbs down, and students sloshed along the sidewalks to school after a delayed start. Either waiting for the bus or a break in the weather were a few residents out in this winterâs latest storm. Waiting for the bus on the Main Street sidewalk near the Edmond Town Hall were Jordan and Jared Fiala and friend Alicia Bauer. Down the hill in Sandy Hook were Walter Carvala, running a snow blower across the back deck near Subway and overlooking the Pootatuck River, and Mike Porco who shoveled walkways between buildings as rain puddles deepened.
