Adopt A Dog From Animal Control

The following dogs and cat are available for adoption from the Newtown pound, which is located at the end of Ethan Allen Road (behind the transfer station):

WINSTON is a male Jack Russell Terrier. He has been evaluated by a trainer who has determined that Winston has been abused. Sadly, he does not react well with strangers and is very defensive. He is a little overweight but loves to run around and play with his toys. Winston needs an understanding, patient owner with a gentle hand.

DELILAH is a female Shar-pei who enjoys long walks and will sniff just about everything in sight. She is an overall happy dog but would most likely require some training. She does not do well with other dogs.

RUSSELL is a 5- to 6-year-old male boxer mix. He seems to have limitless energy and when he’s taken for a walk, he acts like a true gentleman. However, Russell is a very strong dog and will most likely require a strong leader and owner. Russell would not be suitable in a home with cats.

CHEVY is an approximately 6-7-year-old neutered male rottweiler mix. He is a true companion dog and wants nothing more than to be by somebody’s side. He is not good with other dogs and small children. He enjoys hanging around with the staff at the dog pound and would be perfectly happy having his belly rubbed all day.

LARRY is a 3-to-4-year-old neutered black lab mix. Larry is full of energy and loves to go for long walks. He does well with some dogs but is very large and excitable, so he may not be appropriate for a household with small children.

SASHA is a 2-to-3 year-old spayed terrier mix. She does not do well with men and would be best suited in a home with a female owner. When Sasha does bond with someone she really opens up and shows she can be a fantastic friend. She loves to be brushed and can grow very attached if someone shows her some affection.

Good news: Gunther, Susie and Duchess have been adopted.
