Local Consultant Recommends Consolidating Expenses To Save Companies Money

SOUTHBURY — Companies of all sizes can manage their indirect expenses more efficiently and cost effectively by consolidating certain expenses like maintenance contracts and travel expenditures. Lisa Powell, an Expense Reduction Consulting (ERC) franchisee from Southbury, says that using a centralized approach to many indirect expenses will save companies money in the short and long term.

“Cost reductions can be achieved in many areas of a business with adequate oversight. However, specifically, there are some expenses, like maintenance contracts and travel-related expenses, where companies can not only save money, but simplify the process of managing these costs, as well,” says Ms Powell.

With maintenance contracts, when using a centralized support system, companies can simplify the process and lower the costs, sometimes as much as 25–30 percent, according to a release from the company.

This consolidated risk approach can cover such things as medical equipment, computers, security systems, HVAC systems, copy machines or most things with a moving or computer part, and oftentimes without changing a company’s present support vendor.

For companies with employees who travel, understanding the cost savings of purchasing hotel rooms at volume discounts is critical. Ms Powell says to centralize this indirect expense, companies should use a credible industry expert who will not only reduce the cost per room, but remove some of the administrative expenses of hotel shopping.

These discounts are available for all levels of hotel hospitality.

As a cost-cutting expert, Ms Powell is trained to help business owners reduce long-term costs by analyzing their clients’ expenses, negotiating or renegotiating with suppliers, and making recommendations that result in long-term savings. She focuses on helping companies and organizations realize measurable cost savings in other indirect expense categories including:

*Office supplies

*Telecommunications

*Staffing

*Printing

*Maintenance contracts

*Professional services
