School Board Unveils Its 'Perspectives'
School Board Unveils Its âPerspectivesâ
The Board of Education released its first âBOE Perspectivesâ article last week. As school board Chairman William Hart said at the boardâs Tuesday, October 5, meeting, the purpose of the monthly releases are to âreach out broadly to the community.â
In accordance with that purpose, the school board also plans to hold âCoffees with the BOEâ meetings to give the community a chance to informally speak with school board members. The first of these meetings is scheduled for Tuesday, October 26, at 7 pm, at Newtown Middle School. More information on the event, and the school boardâs full âBOE Perspectivesâ October article, is available on the school districtâs website www.newtown.k12.ct.us and at www.newtownbee.com.
âThese articles are designed to provide information on the school system and the activities of the Board of Education,â Mr Hart wrote as an introduction. âThey are intended to represent the consensus of the Board rather than the opinion of a single board member. The BOE Perspectives is part of the Boardâs overall program to improve communication with the community.â
The first article is titled âFocus on Education,â and lists the school boardâs goals for the 2010-2011 school year, as passed by the school board during its October 5 meeting.
