Shannon Erika Solheim, the daughter of Janis and Peter Solheim of Sandy Hook, graduated from Muhlenberg College, Allentown, Penn., magna cum laude, earning a bachelor of arts and communications with honors and a bachelor of arts in political science.

While attending Muhlenberg, Shannon was a presidential scholar; a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, which is a National Leadership Honor Society; a member of the Communication Honor Society; and Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society. She served on the academic judicial board, the social judicial board, and was president of both the Communication Club and the Public Relations Student Society of  America. Shannon is a member of the Delta Zeta sorority where she was treasurer and editor in chief of the chapter newsletter. She was a four-year varsity member of the coed cheerleading team where she served as captain her senior year. Shannon is employed in New York City as a team assistant for CNN.

Bonnie Jean Soucy of Sandy Hook recently graduated from the University of Albany with a bachelor of arts degree.

Newtown residents Kevin Quinn and Kaltrina Sedaliu and Sandy Hook resident Michael Nastri are among more than 2,000 college freshman attending Fordham University this fall.
