Help Teach A Kid
How To Read
To the Editor:
Regarding putting Newtown âOn The Mapâ with better education and communication, I pose a challenge to all the residents of Newtown:
Letâs put our money where our mouths are. As Newtowners, we support education and communication. For about the cost of the annual minimum PR bill ($28,800) of the school district, we can all put in one dollar per resident (every resident of Newtown â 27,560 people at the 2010 census) and help finish the film that will help countless children and adults learn to read. Are you game, Newtown?

The filmmakers have a deadline quickly approaching. The filmmaker is from Newtown and went to Hawley School. It would be a type of healing for our town that is recently going through some turmoil but still wants to do the right thing by the kids and also the adults that might not have received the appropriate education while they were here. Folks in town have discussed getting an adults educational class going for those who fell through the cracks in the past. This film could put us on the map for turning the tide around to the positive from the negative. Talk about good PR! Thanks again for your support. I only hope it catches on quickly!
The New York Times is presently writing about our great horse trails. Letâs show them another âtrailâ we want to lead on: The Educational Trail.
