Wildflowers Featured In Audubon Program

SOUTH BRITAIN — Lillinonah Audubon Society will hold a general meeting on Thursday, September 28, at the parish house of South Britain Congregational Church, at the corner of East Flat Hill Road and Route 172. The social hour and refreshments begin at 7:30 pm followed by the meeting and program, all of which are open to the public free of charge.

Bob and Marian McIlvin will present “Connecticut Wildflowers: Their Legends and Folklore,” a talk and slide show on the wildflowers of the state. The McIlvins live in Cheshire but have traveled all over the world. Both are expert photographers.

Mrs McIlvin was an elementary school teacher and supervisor in Farmington. Now retired, it is she who researches the subjects of the couple’s programs and ties together the stories behind the photographs.

Mr McIlvin is a retired engineer and a member of both Professional Photographers of America and Photographic Society of America. He has also contributed nature material to The Audubon Society Guide to North American Wildflowers.

The evening promises to be an interesting one. The public is welcome and there is no charge.
