Elderly Health Screening Set
Elderly Health Screening Service will hold a free screening at the Newtown Senior Center on Wednesday, January 3.
Sponsored by the State Department of Social Services, the Commission on Aging, St Maryâs Hospital, and the United Way, the service offers health screenings, health education, and referrals to persons aged 60 and over on an annual basis.
Screenings include health history, pulse, blood pressure, electrocardiogram, blood tests (CBC, chemistry, sugar), urinalysis, hemoccult, glaucoma test, distance vision, and hearing test.
 A nurse practitioner will be in attendance to offer breast examinations and Pap tests for women and prostate examinations for men.
There is a suggested donation of $20 ($25 with Pap testing) to assist in covering costs not paid through state or local grants. More or less is accepted.
