State Disability Rights Agency To Host Public Forums
State Disability Rights Agency To Host Public Forums
DANBURY â The State Office of Protection and Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities is hosting a series of public forums across the state during August and September. The purpose of the forums is to hear from individuals with disabilities and family members who have a child with a disability. Input received will be used to help develop agency priorities for 2002.
The agency, better known as P&A, focuses on legal issues confronting people with disabilities and families. Historically P&A has addressed the rights of people in state and private facilities, special education, discrimination based on disability, and denial of services to individuals and families by state and private agencies.
P&A will be holding a public forum on Wednesday, August 29, at Danbury Public Library, 170 Main Street in Danbury, from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm. Anyone with a disability, who has a family member with a disability, or an interest in disability rights issues, is invited to attend and share their experience with disability discrimination.
