Let History

Lead The Way

To the Editor:

If we take the trouble to read it, history can lead the way. Ben Franklin used a snake (cut in 13 pieces) to represent the 13 colonies with this caption: United we stand (divided we fall).

The way I see it, we have about 13 senators hellbent on cutting the snake into 13 pieces. Unfortunately three or four are Republicans.

In war there is only one commander in chief and war is like a chess game — the moves depend on the moves of the enemy. Sometimes it takes a little time to counter move without losing too many men. In World War II, we just kept throwing men into battle until we lost almost 500,000 men in four years. Here, in four years, we haven’t lost even 4,000 men. In World War II, everyone pitched in to help and this time we have had nothing but roadblocks put up, insulting our President and frankly committing treason.

I am an original member of the 101 Airborne Division. I jumped in Normandy, Holland, and Bastone.
