NEW YORK CITY — The School of Visual Arts will present a free lecture, “The Narcissist and the Recluse: Dimensions of Self,” on Thursday, April 3, at 7 pm, 209 East 23 Street, third floor amphitheater.

This panel discussion will address the mutability of identity and multifaceted nature of personality. By debating fixed and fluctuating aspects of the self, panelists will discuss such topics as individuality, the archetype and the “symbolic real.”

Moderated and organized by educator Loretta Lorance, panelists include Laurie Adams, professor of art history at John Jay College, CUNY; Suzanne Anker, chair, BFA Fine Arts Department at SVA; and David Hoddeson, licensed psychoanalyst and associate professor of literary modernism/postmodernism at Rutgers University-Newark.
