Copper And Aluminum Parts Stolen From Rooftop Equipment

Police report an incident in which someone stole metal parts from HVAC (heating-ventilation-air conditioning) units positioned atop a retail building at Plaza South, a shopping center at 266 South Main Street in Botsford.

The retail complex is still under construction, with the fifth of five buildings now being built there.

Police said that sometime overnight on May 11/May 12, an unknown number of people gained access to the roof of a building at the northern end of the shopping center where the Cork-N-Keg package store is located. Those people then stole nine aluminum evaporators and eight copper condensers from the HVAC units positioned on the roof, police said.

After the unknown people removed the aluminum and copper parts from the HVAC units, they left the area in a vehicle, police said. The monetary loss due to the incident was not available. The stolen metal items would have value as scrap metal.

Police ask anyone with information about the theft of the metal parts from the rooftop HVAC units to contact either Patrol Officer Liam Seabrook or Detective Jason Frank at the police station at 203-426-5841.
