SOUTHBURY â September ... time for thinking of crisp fall days and the crisp sweet apples, and the annual Apple Festival at South Britain Congregational Church.
On Saturday September 17, the church green will be filled with fun and excitement for all from 10 am until 3 pm rain or shine when the 19th Annual South Britain Congregational Church Apple Festival is presented. Ample parking is provided across the street from the green, located a the intersection of Route 172 and East Flat Hill Road in the South Britain section of Southbury (one mile north of I-84 Exit 14).
Vendors and craftspeople set up around the green will include The Country Store, which has apples, cider and birdhouses among its wares; a snack bar, featuring apple pie slices; Pick-A-Prize, Silent Auction and Kids World, the latter of which will appeal to children of all ages.
Inside the Parish House, rooms will be filled jewelry, accessories, white elephant bargains and golden elephant treasures, books, and baked goods. Two new additions will be the Apple Turnovers, a one-day thrift boutique of gently-used womenâs clothes and the Menâs Shop, featuring tools, garden and yard items, sporting goods and menâs accessories.
Lunch will be served beginning at 11 am, with offerings to include pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, and apple crisp.
