Tree Lightings And An Early

Arrival From Santa

DANBURY — Danbury’s downtown special services district known as CityCenter Danbury is preparing for the holidays as the final touches of holiday lights are being placed on the trees and buildings throughout downtown Danbury. The public is invited to join in the fun the day after Thanksgiving as Danbury “Lights the Lights” and officially begins the holiday season.

The 25th annual CityCenter Danbury Holiday Lighting Ceremony will begin at 4:30 pm on Friday, November 26, with the welcoming bells of local CityCenter churches. The festivities begin immediately thereafter in front of the Danbury Public Library at Library Plaza, at the corner of Main and West Streets.

Holiday music and singing will be provided by the King Street School Chorus, the Sacred Heart Children’s Choir and Immanuel Lutheran Junior Choir. A “Festival of Brass” ensemble featuring a quintet of accomplished horn players from the area will perform a variety of holiday melodies with those gathered invited to join in carol singing, a countdown to the tree lighting and Santa’s arrival via fire engine.

Guests are then invited to stroll with Santa up Main Street to The Galleria at 225 Main Street, to view Danbury Railway Museum’s holiday model train exhibit underneath a three-floor high Christmas tree. Children can visit with Santa and have their picture taken. Framed Polaroid photos with Santa will be available for $3 each until 7 pm. Free meter parking will be available starting at 3 pm.
