It's Time Once Again To Tag A Gift
Itâs Time Once Again To Tag A Gift
The Newtown Junior Womenâs Club (NJWC) is once again sponsoring its annual Tag-a-Gift program to begin the week of Thanksgiving. This program provides Christmas gifts for needy children in Newtown. The project is carried out in conjunction with the Newtown Fundâs Christmas Basket program and the townâs Social Services Department.
Each year, the community is given the opportunity to buy gifts anonymously for the less fortunate children in town. This year, the tags were created by the NJWC children and Junior Girl Scout Troop #819. Each tag includes the childâs age, sex, and a brief description of his or her wish list. Individuals, families, or companies may choose as many tags as they would like and purchase gifts for each of those children. After the gifts are purchased, they should be brought back to the original site unwrapped with the identifying original tag attached.
The gifts should be returned to all locations no later than Monday, December 11. The NJWC collects all toys, wraps them, and then delivers hundreds of gifts to Depot Day at Sandy Hook School, Saturday, December 16.
The various Tag-a-Gift locations are: Newtown Savings Bank at Sandhill Plaza, Fleet Bank, Union Savings Bank, Wesley Learning Center, and new location, Starbucks, located on Church Hill Road. For more information, call Kim DiDomizio at 426-4917.
