Holiday Service At Newtown Congregational Church

The Rev Steven Gordon, senior minister of Newtown Congregational Church, will be preaching Sunday at the 10 am Christmas Eve service and will be assisted by the Rev Janice Touloukian, associate minister.

Special music will include the Prelude by Philip Crevier at the organ, the Introit by Katie rose Crevier singing “Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella.” Other solos will be “Carol of the Birds” by Caitlin O’Handley, and “He’s Here” by Carl Lindquest with his guitar. The Senior Choir will sing the Offertory Anthem, “Infant Holy, Infant Lowly,” under the direction of Mary Andreotta.

There will be a 5 pm Christmas Pageant Service with the Sunday School, directed by the Rev Janice Touloukian, Associate Minister, and narrated by Edwin Corfey, Lay Minister. Youth members Kara and Courtney MacRae will sing the Prelude and Postlude and the Children’s Choir, under the direction  of Mrs Andreotta, will sing “Christ Was Born in Bethlehem.”

Both the 7:30 and 11 pm will be candlelight services. Lynn Buttner will share Christmas memories at the 7:30 service and Jennifer Nichols will do it at the 11 pm Service.

The Reinhardt family, David, Pat, Andrea, and Jeffery, will play a woodwind quartet for the Prelude and Offertory at 7:30. Soloists Kara Kunst, Courtney MacRae, and Tracy Mulholland will sing “Go Tell Ii on the Mountain,” “Jesus, Jesus, Rest Your Head,” and “Jesu Bambino” respectively. The Whitechapel Bellringers will play “Shepherd’s Air” under the direction of Carol Benson.

The 11 pm service will feature Spencer and Morgan Swain, violinists, for the Prelude and Offertory and soloists Sharon Goodkowsky and Brittany McClure. The Senoir Choir will sing “Star Carol” under the direction of Mrs. Andreotta. Philip Crevier will be at the organ.
