Heroman Joins People’s Bank

BRIDGEPORT — People’s Bank has announced it has named Donald T. Heroman executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective August 6. Mr Heroman is currently senior vice president and treasurer of Sun Trust Banks, Inc, a $100 billion financial holding company in Atlanta, Ga.

At Sun Trust, Mr Heroman’s involvement as treasurer included responsibility for funding, asset/liability management, capital management and rating agency relations. He also worked closely with Sun Trust’s executive management team on mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, budget and planning and venture capital investments. These efforts made him a key contributor to Sun Trust’s growth since he joined that organization in 1988.

In addition to his experience with the large, regional financial services company, Mr Heroman also served as chief financial officer of Fidelity National Bank in Louisiana from 1981 to 1986. Prior to joining Sun Trust in 1988, he educated financial institutions nationwide on state-of-the-art financial management of the balance sheet as a consultant for Sendero Corporation.

A native of Louisiana, Mr Heroman has a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Notre Dame. He currently lives in Atlanta with his wife and three children and will be relocating to Connecticut.
