Michael David Keilty

Michael David Keilty, 40, of Sandy Hook, husband  of Ann (Taylor) Keilty, died as the result of a plane crash in upstate New York on July 10.

Michael was born on June 4, 1964, son of Vincent Keilty and the late CaroleAnn Britton. He grew up in Brookfield, attended Brookfield schools, and went on to receive a degree in criminal justice. He worked as a police officer in Pennsylvania and in Danbury.

He was later involved in the communications field, ranging from answering services and surveillance to security video equipment.

Michael received the 2001 Connecticut Businessman of the Year Award as well as the Republican of the Year Award in Washington, D.C., from White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card.

In addition to his wife Ann of Sandy Hook and his father Vincent of Danbury, Michael is survived by his three children, Alicia, Carl and Sara, all of Sandy Hook; his brothers Tony Keilty of Ellington and Tim Keilty of Bethel; his sister, Cynthia Peterson of Danbury; his two half-brothers, Patrick and Andrew Keilty of Danbury; as well as several nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by his mother, CaroleAnn Britton.

Friends may call at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, on Friday, July 16, from 5 to 7 pm.

A brief memorial service will take place at 7 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael’s memory may be made to The Sara Keilty Fund, c/o Ellen Blom at Savings Bank of Danbury, 12 Hayestown Avenue, Danbury CT 06811.

Green Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
