The program will run from September 19 to September 24.

In addition to WestConn, the seminar will feature speakers and panel discussions at locations in and near Washington, D.C., and New York City.

While in Washington, the German educators will visit the US Department of State, IIE offices and the German Embassy. They will also divide into teams in field experience visits at either Georgetown or George Washington University.

While in New York, the group will convene at IIE headquarters and break into field teams to visit various area schools. On Thursday, September 23, one team will be making observations at the State University of New York (SUNY) at State Brook. The other team will visit WestConn.

“This will be the third year that WestConn will work with the IIE and the German-American Fulbright Commission to introduce German university leaders to the people, structures, and strategies successfully used by US universities to advance our educational objectives,” said Vice President of Institutional Advancement Richard Gerber.

This year’s theme will focus primarily on planning and executing staff and organizational restructuring, improvements to the decisionmaking process on campus and financial challenges to operations, Dr Gerber explained.

In previous sessions, the meetings have provided an overview of topics related to fundraising, including the mechanics of solicitation, alumni affairs, corporate giving, public relations, and information management.

The IIE is an organization that seeks to increase communication and the sharing of knowledge across borders in order to reduce conflict and advance peoples’ professional lives.

For further information, contact Dr Gerber at 837-9805 or the WestConn Office of Public Relations at 837-8486.
