CSLF Offers Financial Aid Help For Families
The Connecticut Student Loan Foundation (CSLF), a nonprofit agency dedicated to providing access to funding for higher education, would like to remind students who plan on attending college in fall 2005 that now is the time to complete their financial aid application. It is important for students to complete these forms to meet college and university deadlines for the 2005-06 academic year.
To be considered for any type of federal aid, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA can be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, or a paper copy can be obtained by calling 800-4-FED-AID. Students are encouraged to complete the online version, which is user friendly and also shortens processing time. A personal identification number (PIN), which is required for the online FAFSA, can be obtained at www.pin.ed.gov.
Many colleges and state financial assistance programs also require students to complete the FAFSA to determine eligibility. Some institutions grant aid on a first-come, first-serve basis, so families should complete and return all required documents as early as possible. It is important to check with each school for specific application requirements and deadlines.
CSLF offers the following free public services to assist families in completing the FAFSA and other related financial aid forms:
CSLF Resource Center â Families can visit the CSLF Resource Center in Rocky Hill to receive free, personalized assistance in completing financial aid forms. Online terminals and a college resource library are available. Families can call 866-PLAN-4IF to schedule an appointment.
