Spend Sunday Afternoon Exploring The Bent

Southbury — This Sunday, April 10, from 1 to 4 pm, an Audubon volunteer will be on hand to answer questions about the 660-acre sanctuary bordering the Pomperaug River in the South Britain section of Southbury.

Participants are invited to meet at the education barn, which is a short walk up the road from the Audubon Center entrance and parking area. They will learn about the many walking trails, the different habitats, the birds and animals that reside on the preserve or maybe seen passing through on a seasonal basis.

The Audubon Center at Bent of the River is at 185 East Flat Hill Road off Exit 14 on I-84. Turn left off the ramp and proceed on Route 172 into the village of South Britain, watching for a left turn between the Country Store and the Congregational Church.

Trails are open to the public seven days a week during daylight hours. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9 to 5. For information, call 203-264-5098.
