Occupation: I am the owner/operator of Newtown school bus number 16. I’ve had my own contract for ten years, but I’ve been driving in the system for 12 years. I inherited my bus from my dad, Charlie Rudolph. He drove for 20-some odd years.

Family: My husband, Kevin. We just celebrated our 25th anniversary in June. We have two daughters. Kayla is 19 years old and is a sophomore at WestConn and Marley is 16 and is a junior at Newtown High School.

Pets: We have a Cockapoo dog. His name is Baxter and he is 9 years old. We inherited Baxter from my niece when she moved.

How long have you lived in Newtown? I’ve lived here my whole life. I never left. I always knew that if I had kids, I wanted to raise them here. We have lived in the same house for 22 years.

What do you like to do in your free time? The thing I enjoy most is going to Marley’s softball and volleyball games. Kayla is a theater major, so we enjoy going to her shows, too. We bought a boat recently and we like going out on Candlewood Lake. We are very family oriented and enjoy spending time with our family.

Do you have a favorite author? I enjoy Mary Higgins Clark and I like Nicholas Sparks a lot. I think he’s a really good writer. I read for enjoyment, more in the summer than the rest of the year. I love a wide variety of movies, too, especially action/adventure, like The Patriot. I like all types of movies, though.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? I love Disney World. I don’t think you can have a bad vacation there. We even went there for Kevin’s parents’ 50th anniversary. We love the Jersey Shore, too, Wildwood Crest. The beaches are beautiful.

What is the best thing about Newtown? The small, hometown feel is still here. The General Store, the town hall, the library still has that feel. I like that we do the Labor Day Parade and the tree lighting and that kind of thing.

What changes have you seen in Newtown? The development and population growth. Off of Scudder Road where Cobblestone is now, it used to be a big farm. I used to ride our pony through there. I used to go to Grand Union and I never got out of there without knowing somebody, but sometimes now I go shopping and I don’t see anyone I know. Everyone used to know everyone else — that’s why we had to behave when we were growing up.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Treat other people how you want to be treated. Be honest and fair. I think for the most part, if you are good to people, they will be good back to you.

If you could do one thing you’ve never done, what would it be? I would do more traveling. I’d love to get in an RV and see our country. And I would love to go to other countries and experience it with my whole family.
