Family Fun At Yale Center For British Art

NEW HAVEN — The Yale Center for British Art announces a host of programs for children and families to be held this spring. All programs are free and open to the public and no registration is required.

 “Family Funday: Telling Stories” will be on Saturday, April 5, also 10:30 to 11:30 am. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Join YCBA staff for stories from Native American traditions that relate to the exhibition “A New World: England’s First View of America.” The program is free and suitable for all ages. No registration required.

“Picture This! Looking at Old Things in New Ways” will be offered twice: on Saturday, April 12, 10:30 am to noon, at Yale Center for British Art and again on Saturday, April 19, also 10:30 am to noon, at Peabody Museum of Natural History, 170 Whitney Avenue. Visitors can attend one or both sessions.

Participants at each museum will use interactive gallery activities while looking at objects from both special collections: paintings, drawings, stuffed birds, animal skins, and dioramas. At the Peabody, visitors will construct a mural of what they have seen in both museums, which will than be on public view. This program is appropriate for children 7 to 12 years of age.
