A Loss For The School

District

To the Editor:

It was with great disappointment and sadness that I learned last week of the impending retirement of Donna Denniston, principal of Reed Intermediate School. In an email distributed through the PTA, Mrs Denniston announced that she will be leaving at the end of this school year.

I have always considered RIS as the shining star in our education system since its opening several years ago. The building and grounds are maintained in immaculate condition and the staff of teachers and other personnel have always been most cooperative and helpful. The curricula and programs are superb and the communications between school and parents are informative and timely. These qualities in a school do not occur by accident. They are the result of the professional and dedicated leadership attributed to its principal.

I would like to extend my best wishes for a well deserved, long and rewarding retirement to Mrs Denniston and my encouragement to the Board of Education to find a replacement of equal caliber to continue the legacy rooted in this school over the past few years. This will be a most challenging task for the Board of Education.
